Why Are You Still Drinking Milk?

I’m having a hard time explaining to people why I don’t advise people to drink milk or eat cheese.  Most people are so attached to their dairy products that they are willing to argue with me all day about why they disagree with me on that point.  Many of the people I’ve advised to quit dairy actually feel great but now they’re coming back to me saying that their family and friends are hassling them to go back to it and they don’t know what to tell them. So I’m with the ‘NotMilk’ man today asking him all kinds of challenging questions. Listen in!

Healthy Parenting gossip

I get asked this a lot: how do you do healthy parenting? And my answer is always: I don’t know, I haven’t figured it out yet! Every time I think I’ve figured it out, I face a new challenge.  BUT I have done a few things right. At least according to good friend J’Lein Liese, who came to visit us in Bahrain recently.  With a background in psychology, I caught J’Lein watching me and my kids often and needless to say she asked a lot of questions! During her visit, she said she wanted to chat about healthy parenting but we never got around to doing it. So we decided to do it right here LIVE on the air so you all can join us and listen in.  So here it is, myself and J’Lein talking about parenting, kids and health (three things that don’t always mix!).

Liver and Gallbladder Flush

Last year I came across a very interesting book called The Amazing Liver & Gallbladder Flush. In it, the author claims that you can rid your liver and gallbladder of any stones accumulated in them.  I put the book aside and only developed the courage to try the method this last June. What happened was nothing short of amazing. I expelled hundreds of stones; and then I repeated it last month and again: hundreds of stones. I was hooked and fascinated. But I had a lot of questions and so did my audience. So I decided to host the author of the book himself, Andreas Moritz.

Food for the Brain

Did you know that kids who eat nutritious food have higher IQs, perform better in school, and get into less trouble with their friends?  Also, kids who have a balanced diet get sick less often, they have stable energy levels that last them through the day, behave better in public, and enjoy a bunch of health signs such as better digestion and brighter skin. Children’s diets today don’t only affect them in the short-run, but the health effects last throughout life. BUT parents and caretakers are often confused as to what is good nutrition for their children.  They receive mixed messages from the people around them and the media and end up unsure of what to do. In this workshop, Alia Almoayed puts the spotlight on kids health and shows us how to use nutrition to improve the health of children, no matter what their age.

Self-publishing in Bahrain

Bahraini Nutritional Therapist and Author Alia Almoayed gave a talk last week to members of the Bahrain Writers’ Circle.  The topic of the meeting was self-publishing and the meeting included the highest number of attendants since its inception in February, earlier this year.  Ms. Almoayed spoke about her experience with self-publishing in Bahrain.

“It was such a pleasure talking to a group so passionate about writing.  It’s not my typical lecture because it has nothing to do with nutrition but I enjoyed it immensely.  I was very inspired by their dedication and love for writing. I hope I was able to encourage them to get their voice heard through writing,” said Alia Almoayed.  Listen to the replay here!
